Writing can help us to clarify our thoughts and feelings, to focus our minds in a more positive way and from a different perspective. This can help us manage our overall wellbeing. A single prompt, for example, might open up a space where words flow and we begin to see what is most important to us. You will explore a variety of writing prompts and gradually develop a toolkit of techniques that you can apply to your own practice. We will be looking at single-word prompts, images, objects and poems and how these can act as springboards to begin a piece of writing.
In a recent session, we looked at Myths and Myth-Making. Myths are more than stories. They are sacred tales that explain the world and our experience. They are as relevant to us today as they were to the ancients and in the answering of timeless questions, they serve as a compass to each generation. In this session, we explored myths and mythical characters from around the world/in a global context. We also used a storytelling structure technique to develop a mythical account of our own.

Ever wonder what it’s like to go to the great beyond? The universe is vast and mysterious and the great unknown is perfect for our imagination. In this session, we drew upon word association, shared inspiring songs and media in the form of group discussion, moulded plasticine into alien creations, and used planetary facts to conjure up personification character-building, and emotive description.
